Can dogs and cats eat Apples?
DogFine in small amounts
CatFine in small amounts
Apple flesh is a good treat for dogs in small slices. Remove the core and seeds.
Why
Seeds contain amygdalin (cyanide-releasing) – a concern only in large amounts; core is a choking hazard
Signs to watch for
- stomach upset if too much
- choking on core
Good to know
A few swallowed seeds are very unlikely to cause harm, but remove core, seeds and stem. Cats rarely want apple; small plain pieces are harmless.
